When French Music Was All The Rage...

Henry Purcell was still composing consort music in a day and age when it had become outdated. Despite the fact that the music was never actually published or meant to be publicly performed, it is still some of the most complex music written for viol consort. Purcell's In Nomines (thought to be composed in 1680) were the last to be composed before the 20th century.
